Wondering how our rugs are made? We, at BONNIBOLD, will tell you: The carpets are made in winter by the few Anatolian, nomadic women and girls who are still alive. Making carpets is an important part of their income. With the earnings that result from this, they keep their families afloat. If you take a closer look, you will notice that each carpet tells its own story. The nomads live out their patterns and colors during production. They weave their dreams and feelings into the carpet. This makes each model an absolute one-off!
There is a story behind every kilim. The motifs worked into the carpet are images that the nomads have passed on from generation to generation over the centuries. Would you like to know what story the pictured kilim tells? We'll tell you: The images in the middle represent two crabs. These symbolize blessings in nomadic mythology. The green, leaf-like symbols all around are intended to depict habitats to which crabs migrate. Ears of grain can also be seen on the carpet. These are intended to reflect prosperity. If the carpet is given as a gift, it is said to wish prosperity and happiness to the one who receives it.
